Meeting:  Thursday, April 5

Paolo Diaz:  Junior Achievement

Mission:

To prepare young people to thrive in the 21st century workplace and global economy by inspiring a passion in free enterprise and entrepreneurship, and instilling an understanding of personal financial literacy.

Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain is launching an exciting new interactive program on October 3, 2011: JA Finance Park(TM)! JA Finance Park introduces students to personal finance and career exploration through classroom instruction complemented by a live or virtual simulation where students apply learned concepts in a life-like marketplace. During the one-day simulation, students assume randomly awarded family and income scenarios and visit businesses to gather information for their personal financial decision-making.

Before visiting JA Finance Park, students complete a 19 hour in classroom curriculum where they learn fundamental personal financial literacy and the relevancy of economics in their daily lives. Through this curriculum, students learn the difference between credit and debit; analyze the risks and benefits associated with saving and investing; and most importantly; understand the impact education will have on their lives in the future.

During the 2011-2012 school year, JA plans to impact 5,000 middle and high school students in the live version of Finance Park, and 2,500 students in the virtual version of Finance Park.

Meeting this THURSDAY:  Join us on Thursday to hear from our friend, Paolo Diaz, about Junior Achievement.  See how you can get involved in Adams 14 and 27J.  We meet at the Werth Manor Event Center at 8301 Rosemary Drive at 7:30am.
